ENDOWMENT FUNDING SECTOR.
On the obvious reality that Donor funding is NOT always forthcoming, the SACDEP Board of Trustees and Management have continued to build self funding mechanisms.
Through offering of goods and services at subsidized fees, some surplus is created. The generated income is then given to the SACDEP Management for project funding.
To ensure that the SFS works hard enough to achieve the tasks, each year projects are identified. Then their costs are estimated and a specific figure is given to the team. The sector therefore works towards raising and providing the target for project implementation. This is after the sector has been able to meet its running and maintenance costs.

3. Future plans for SFS. SACDEP continues to receive an overwhelming number of requests and invitations from communities in Kenya and the East African region. Our funding Partners themselves have their limitations. They cannot support all our good and worthwhile project applications.
Therefore, SACDEP must of necessity expand its Self Funding Capacity. Towards this end, the Organization seeks to undertake the following expansion projects.
- 30 more accommodation rooms
- 2 new meeting/seminar rooms
- Networking and information Centre
4. Future Plans of the SFS. SACDEP has always aimed at setting up a good example. The example is that indigenous Development Agencies – (NGOs) need not be dependants on external funding agencies forever. As such, they have to develop own endowment resources. This means that their vision, Mission and Objectives will be obtained, funders or no funders.
Therefore, SACDEP invites all well wishers committed to development for East Africa farming communities. The invitation is to enter into SACDEP’s fraternity through contributions to the Organization’s Endowment building Programme. The process is designed to take 2 development paths as below:-
Full or part contribution to the construction and equipping of any of the expansion projects shown above.
Making a contribution to the proposed SACDEP endowment fund. The facility is aimed at keeping in the banks Ksh. 50 million (US $ …….. ) The interest gained to fund at least 2 projects per year.
The project will be focused to change the lives of marginalized communities in Kenya and in the East African region.
